Title: September Live race (Online)
Post by: Erik Barros on August 27, 2025, 02:38:31 AM
It's been a while since we've all gathered for a live race. I'd like to organize a live, online race. It's quite simple; we'll race online directly from our browsers, connected to a server that automatically updates the times. There will be multiple tracks with 20-minute races, very similar to Formula 1 qualifying.

I would like to check which are the best days and times for everyone, I can't just do it on the 14th (Sunday), any other day on the weekend is ok for me.

For those who want and can test the game in the online version, this is the link:

It's not working properly on my end. It's working in slow motion. Thank you for the effort.

I have a simpler solution! Download the .trk (qr coded with buildings on the terrain for each pipsqueak) from a PHP website, upload the replay on the website before a countdown ends. The times are automatically updated on a result page. What do you think of that?

I am not available in september for a live event. But I'll manage a live race project proof of concept aiming for the upcoming Stunts UNiversal Timezone Series during the holidays in october! from the 18th of october to the 3rd of november. This is a community project any Stunts pipsqueak interested at can take part, see the existing topic on France Stunts subforum.

The server works fine for me, seems a nice feature!
Unfortunately it's a packed period for me so I cannot commit in advance to an event. If you fix a date and time I'll try to make space and let you know.

Unfortunately your method does not work. A pipsqueak with bad intentions could prepare a lap in advance and then exchange the track part in the replay file. Consequently, you may as well make the race trust based and avoid the hassle.

Sunday September 14 should work just fine for me.

Thanks for setting this up!

It seems to be running fine on my end. How about Sunday 21st?  I mostly can any weekend, but the 13th and 14th, depending on the time, it may be harder for me, still possible

It is working properly.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tool-assisted_speedrun#Method

QuoteTo make this more precise, the game is slowed down. Initially, it was common to slow down to some low fraction of normal speed.

This is how tools for speedruns function. Where do I set the speed? Now it runs 6.66 times slower, I want it a little faster.

Live racing is back on the menu -- thanks for setting it up, @Erik Barros !

The 21st or any other Sunday should be okay for me to join. Saturdays might work too, but in that case I can't commit in advance.

I think Erik meant that September 14 is the only weekend day in which he won't be able to host it.

That's correct.

The 21st is a good day for me, any time. But if I were to suggest would be 1 PM GMT.

I'm thinking of racing on five tracks, tracks that take no more than 1 minute to complete. We'd have 10 or 15 minutes in each race to achieve the best time.
To be fair, we could ask someone who won't be competing in the race to design the tracks, or each of us could contribute one or two tracks.

Sorry, I'm being an infrequent forum visitor.

We need tracks for the race!! I won't have time to create more than one quality track, can anyone draw or indicate an existing track?

I have this old track from the FTT days which I never got to use anywhere, and which might make for a fun live race with something like the Diablo or the CERV. Do you think it's suitable? If so, I'll tidy up the scenery to get it ready for tomorrow. (Note: after some quick "crash recovery RH" test drives, I got times on the 1:20-1:25 range with those cars, so the track might be a bit longer than what you are looking for.)

By the way: what are the plans regarding cars tomorrow? IIRC, in HunterBoy's Stunts Online event last year, we went all-Indy because the system didn't have a way to validate car choices. However, I won't mind at all if you instead pick appropriate cars for each track and we trust everyone to honour the choices.

I agree, I was thinking about opening a poll but I believe we can all decide together tomorrow in the chat

This is NoRH right, using the ingame scoring?

I have some tracks I made for the museum game. I think Zolder (next post, only 4 attachments per post) is the most suitable. It is a pretty "offroad" track, where the locations of corners are merely a suggestion. But I think we can have one of those. Zandvoort (different Zandvoort than we drove in the Rallycross Regionals, older layout) might work too.

Default is more or a freeroam test track, wild is just a rollercoaster track with a bunch of jumps and logo is a very short track.

Alternatively, maybe we could use some Race for Kicks or NTT tracks in reverse?

Thanks for the tracks! The client automatically sends the lap time back to the server which displays on the screen

Duplode made a walkthrough for the last race that is still valid, I updated the server address and added 3 tracks from the last event for anyone who wants to test the connection to the server and become familiar.

How to join the race:

Open https://d5e99b36fd21.ngrok-free.app, preferably on a Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Chromium, Edge, Opera...) and accept the ngrok warning and visit the page - I didn't need to do this step, maybe you don't need to either ;-)

Visit https://erikbarros.cloudns.be/stuntsmp.html (https://erikbarros.cloudns.be/stuntsmp.html)

Enter your name into the Username field, and d5e99b36fd21.ngrok-free.app into the Server field

Click Connect

(Remember there's no default replay, so idle inside a car, or the Tracks screen)

Don't forget to join us at the chatroom in a separate tab! https://forum.stunts.hu/chat/

P.S. For future reference: This Default is probably better named something like Oedenrode, since it's based on the DAF test travk at Sint-Oedenrode. The mod just needed a track named Default.

Here's Cirkus with tidied scenery. The drivable part of the track is the same as in the old version.

It was good fun! Below are the scoreboards of the four races. Victor's ALPINE track is attached, while CIRKUS and ZOLDER are linked upthread. SIMCITYR is missing for now, as I think it had further tweaks beyond reversing the start tile of 2024 SIMCITY. Can you help us with that, @Erik Barros ? :)
