Stunts Online is now open! :)

It is based on the code shared by Sven/playstunts.com . But there are already multiple ways to have the original Stunts experience, so we made something a little different and more modern.

Stunts Online has, for example:
- Automatic leaderboards, championship, and racing against ghost cars
- A modern track editor and a new track format, with new track blocks, more varied terrain, unlimited off-grid scenery, custom horizons, etc
- The whole leaderboard in a single replay with flying camera controls
- Smooth framerate and unlimited drawing distance
- Some of the community-made cars enabled
- And much more.

You compete on a small selection of tracks (6 original, 10 permanent, and a few rotating community tracks), and get championship points based on your standing in each track.

Driving physics are still original, but you can't continue playing from a replay.

The game is completely free with nothing to buy in-game.

Development continues, and we have a few more fun ideas in store for the site.

Have fun!

We also have a discord here.

A new elements for tracks are really cool! I also suggest add the ability to create trick elements in the custom track editor not just on asphalt but also directly on dirt or ice surfaces (for example, it would be cool to see slalom on ice or dirt). This would be a real breakthrough in track construction and would take the game to a new level!

Thanks! That's on the to-do list for sure. In the meantime, placing blocks as scenery may already work for that in some cases. It's already implemented that any block can be used as scenery.

For example, you could lay down an ice road, then place slalom on top of it as scenery, and just a tiny bit below ground so the asphalt surface doesn't show.  As a bonus you can resize and rotate the scenery blocks.

NoRH is technically impossible. You would need a closed-down hardware to do it. Something what cannot be even jail-broken and no other peripherials allowed than official (guaranteed by cryptography).

In Chrome, the local override feature can override any JavaScript code.

Even if the code would run at server-side (and only transmitting the sound and video), the pressed keys could be recorded and played back until needed, from there, continue driving. Takes much more time than just rewinding with the replay viewer, but Replay Handling would be still possible.

Even if someone streams in live how they play (with their hands on the keyboard visible), a script might run in the background to send the proper keypress events, while just omitting the real ones, not to interfere. Hard to catch if there is some discrepancy between what's seen on the monitor and on the keyboard.

A solution could be to publish the new track at a given time (e.g. 8 PM), and there would be only 10 minutes to submit replays.

Keyboard macros are common knowledge because speedrunning communities have to deal with them all the time. Stunts Online has some things in place to hinder keyboard macros and javascript overrides, which I will not go in detail so it's more work for our hypothetical hacker.

It's always possible to overcome them eventually, but I don't think there's a single person who wants to go through all that trouble just to get high scores on Stunts-Online.com . And even if that happened I could just manually delete the scores.

We have had fun with timed tournaments in the past and Stunts Online will support them in the future, as soon as I can get a few more prioritized features out of the way.

Added dirt and ice variants of intersection, highway, tunnel and slalom blocks. Not sure if variants of the elevated blocks make sense... maybe? Why not, I guess!

You mean 10 more seconds for an LLM?

Added dirt and ice variants of intersection, highway, tunnel and slalom blocks.

Now also corkscrew, pipe, banked roads, solid elevated road, elevated corner and corkscrew blocks in dirt and ice versions. Unsure if it makes sense to place these in any track, but they were easy to implement after the other variants, and variants don't take any space in the UI, so why not.

Also implemented cars as scenery blocks, and other fun stuff.

Hello my friend,
I see one or two things that would be of interest to me in this project, which you haven't thought about:
Live multiplayer races, easy to set up, open to participants from all over the world (ping issues will haunt that one), with automatic rankings and statistics.

The ability to upload my own replays, played on the same track, and to shoot a video of the race featuring multiple car ghosts.

Upload a replay, race against the ghost, and download the resulting replay.

Split races into two separate categories: "no skip" and "skip", with the choice left to the racer to tag their own race in either category, and to prevent their ghosts from being viewed by others.

On a side note, I will be staying with the original tracks and will not play the mods that are mere simulacra of the original 1990 Stunts that have become a totally different game. I hope I can still play the original Stunts on your website.
Finally, there is a problem with loading gazillion of ghosts: it takes one hour to load 37 ghosts.

I wish your project a vision, a spine and a heart.

Yours, Alain il Professore.
It is reasonable to expect that genetic influences on traits like IQ should become less important as one gains experiences with age. Surprisingly, the opposite occurs.

Hello Alan, thanks for the feedback! Here are my thoughts:

- Simultaneous multiplayer is in the to-do list, but not trivial to implement, so it will take time.

- Uploading own replays is not possible. We have our own track and replay format for the new features, and we only allow replays recorded with the Stunts Online client to keep the competition fair.

- We aim to design tracks so that large skips are not possible. We can do that thanks to the new track format. Besides that, we don't have rules on how to drive through the track and don't intend to make a skip vs no-skip split. If completely outrageous skipping is detected we can edit the track accordingly to prevent it (by e.g. placing a barrier).

If you prefer the original game more than the new features in Stunts Online, then there are better options: playstunts, dosbox, etc. Stunts Online was made to take the game to some new directions. :)

Playstunts is 4D Driving, not Stunts.
There is a new port which is Stunts 1.1 and has better graphics and 100% replay compatible and can be played from a browser (but only from browser):

The last car in the distance flying straight up made me laugh out loud, thank you 🤣

I've seen many a Trackmania videos of this kind, so surreal and exciting to see one in Stunts!
