Quote from: Byproduct on October 18, 2026, 09:08:10 PM- Uploading own replays is not possible. We have our own track and replay format for the new features, and we only allow replays recorded with the Stunts Online client to keep the competition fair.
I understand wanting to keep the competition fair, but there's a real ownership issue here. The replay file is a record of my driving — my inputs, my skill, my time spent on the track. Restricting uploads to your client doesn't just protect fairness; it locks my own performance data inside your platform, where I can't share, archive, or reuse it as I see fit.
Plenty of classic racing games have thrived on open replay formats and third-party tools without ruining competition.
If my ghost can only live on your website, then I'm not really sharing my replays — I'm feeding a walled garden. I'd rather keep my runs to myself until the format is open, or at least exportable.

It is reasonable to expect that genetic influences on traits like IQ should become less important as one gains experiences with age. Surprisingly, the opposite occurs.

Quote from: Byproduct on October 19, 2026, 12:41:58 AMYou can submit your tracks in the track editor. If accepted, they will be in the community folder for others to play.

And of course I can guess they will not accept silly old format tracks, because why accepting the tracks of a 30 yo game? That's what I understand.

Alain: if you prefer to play Stunts the original way, for that you have ZakStunts right here! And playstunts too. Reinventing that wheel would be pointless. :)

Stunts Online is for playing with the new features.

Some high scores were deleted, some of them were the best times for those tracks. Why they were removed?

What project? I asked Byproduct about his (sorry for assuming gender) Stunts Online site. This topic was created by him to have a discussion about it here.

I can see these log entries, but the highscores doesn't show them:

[2026-10-19 23:51] Sutsuka Circuit: Bernie Rubbers made a new top time! 1:40.30 (Porsche/March INDY)

[2026-10-20 00:21] 003-Village: Bernie Rubbers made a new top time! 1:20.35 (Ferrari F40)

This is an annoucement thread that @Byproduct kindly opened to let us know about Stunts Online, not a debugging thread.

There are hundreds of people playing and discussing its details on this Discord linked at the top of the project's page. You are probably in the wrong place.

Thank you for letting us know about it @Byproduct, don't feel like you need to reply to everything here.

Thanks, that's a good way to go about it from now on!

I do still want to mention that there is no problem with scores on the site. It was merely a weak score hacking attempt by the above person, just one of their multiple antics in an attempt to waste my time. I don't even know them – some people just can't stand the idea of others having fun I suppose. 🤷

But, such scores are automatically flagged and easily removed, so there is no issue really, and no need to discuss it further. And you're right, for any actual bug reports, discord is a better place.

Quote from: Byproduct on October 17, 2026, 08:41:59 PMIt's always possible to overcome them eventually, but I don't think there's a single person who wants to go through all that trouble just to get high scores on Stunts-Online.com . And even if that happened I could just manually delete the scores.

Then it seems there is already one person "who wants to go through all that trouble".

Nowadays there is no such thing as too much time it takes to read/understand/code something anymore since coding agents are a thing. If the code runs on the client, you have no control over it.

Someone already tricked it, it can happen in the future again, and no-one is able to prove 100% if a replay is legit or not.

Your heuristics might not flag it. You still need manual oversight, etc.

Imagine an extreme example: a Teslabot sits front of the computer and plays Stunts Online. It can record and remember its movements, and do the same again and again, just slightly better. That is basically replay handling, and the client code is not even modified. How can you flag that? Put biometric identification and facial recognition into the game and ask for passport on registration?

It's just the same cat and mouse game as in Counter-Strike/Valorant/etc. If it is possible to cheat in the game, someone always will. And you can never know if the other is really better than you, or just cheating without being caught.

That's why I like the idea of the rules of Zak Stunts. Cheating is allowed, so it is fair. It's like everyone having wall hack and autoaim and speedhack, etc. by default in online FPS games. In that case, it would be impossible to cheat.
