Just a fun idea for a race.

You would all use a car with very low grip. You then race a certain track. And it would seem like you'd all be racing on ice.

I guess you could even change the track elements and terrain elements visually so that they would look as if it's all ice and snow. And use such a version of Stunts to race. But that's quite a bit more work.

Would there be any interest in creating "Stunts Licenses" like you could do in Gran Turismo?

So the idea would be that you could train yourself on tracks. And each track could have something like a "Bronze medal", a "Silver medal" and a "Gold Medal", depending on the time you'd beat. Also similar to TrackMania.

So the tracks could be targeted to pipsqueaks, to help them improve and for fun. But also to people who like to build tracks and who would like to create their own custom challenges for anyone to try.

A rather simple way would be to just have a web page where you could upload a track for anyone to download. And you'd receive times to beat, on that web page. This could even be done on this forum.

A more integrated way would be to have a website where you'd have an account and you could upload your replay or highscore file to that website and you'd be rewarded a medal accordingly.

Perhaps even more integrated, would be to have a website where you could play Stunts online, save your replay there, or use the highscore, on that website and have the medal awarded to you automatically. That would be like a whole extension on Stunts.

Just throwing this out there.

Have you seen how popular NES Tetris has become?

They have monthly competitions and a world championship. First there was an older generation. Now a younger generation has taken over, the level of skill has risen to unseen levels.

Yet it's still that old game. I think there's some charm in it. If they were playing a newer version of Tetris, it may look much more flashy. But perhaps also more generic and sterile. It wouldn't have that same touch. There may be thousand of Tetris versions but there's only one NES Tetris.

There's some comparison between Tetris and Stunts. They're both one player games. Yet in Tetris, they can compete by having two players play simultaneously. I think that's possible in Stunts too by now? I've seen you play multiplayer Stunts.

Of course, Tetris is world famous, Stunts not so much. Though it may not matter that much. I think Trackmania wasn't so famous for several years, yet it has become very famous too.

The question is... how was Trackmania able to break through? Possibly through Twitch and YouTube. And what happens is... young people see this, some may start to play it themselves. Some may start to contribute their vids through Twitch and YouTube. And it may take off after a while. Perhaps it won't become world famous but Stunts may be secured of a long future.

Don't you think so too?

I mean, it's true, the graphics suck. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt if it looked better. But there's only one Stunts. If you'd be able to transfer the physics of Stunts into another program, that may not be bad, but perhaps it would start to look more like an alternative to Trackmania. It may be fun, but it may have lost some of its character. Perhaps I'm wrong... it's just my best guess.

Just a track to show two ideas:

-Different kind of corners by using chicanes
-Shortcuts within the track, also with the help of chicanes, they may or may not be faster.

I raced it and tried way too many times. Can you do it faster?

This idea suddenly popped in. Not sure it has been done before.

Suppose you were to make two Stunts tracks. And these tracks would perfectly overlap. So if you would put the map of track 1 over the map of track 2, they'd overlap all the way.

Now suppose you had some kind of software that would allow you to play both tracks simultaneously. So you'd run one instance of Stunts to play track 1 and another instance of Stunts to play track 2. But what if this software would allow your keyboard input to go to both instances? So if you'd press the left key, you'd turn left on both tracks.

Now this would be already quite a challenge. You had two look at two screens at once and manage to complete both tracks.

But what if it would be possible to combine the visual output of both instances into one screen?

Well, then you'd be able to look at one screen. But you'd also see remarkable things. You might see road blocks in a tunnel. And you're not supposed to ignore the road blocks or the tunnel... cause you're supposed to complete both tracks.

You might see road blocks on a bridge, if these road blocks were on a hill, at the same height and location of the bridge.

You might see an icy road or a muddy road in a bridge or tunnel.
You might see a pipe with the roof of a tunnel.

So you'd kind of have new track elements. The tricky thing would be to find a way to combine the two visual outputs of both Stunts instance into one coherent visual output. Perhaps it could be done by analyzing both tracks beforehand. Don't know if it's possible. The visual output of one the tracks, would have to only contain the actual road... and not the grassy terrain around it. And both instances would have to be kept in sync...:-)

Anyone ever seen motorcycle trials, where they jump with their motorcycle from rock to rock?
