Title: Zólyom (USC 66)
Post by: CTG on April 29, 2009, 11:52:56 AM
And the last one of the season with Porsche March Indy... Coming soon!

Line is ready, only the additional design is left. It will be a bit long, but fast and easy one with quite a lot of powergear - and even more water... ;)

I downloaded the track yesterday morning and I'm studying it. Sure I don't want to affect in whatever way the classification, but if I succed to remove a bit of rust, maybe I could make something good, that is what I'm searching for... :)
Initially, I had thought to send a replay in the last day, but it seemed me bad not to advice in advance about my presence: a challenge has to be lived since the beginning... ;)

It's great to hear such a good pipsqueak wants to come back!

Damn, I should have driven 0.20 seconds faster in the last race to avoid the conspiracy! ;D

IMPORTANT! Tonight I'm going to re-install my OS because of some strange errors appeared with the video card and the built-in webcam. If these problems are based on software mistakes then two days without update from now. If it's with the hardware (hopefully not)... well... a bit more (1-2 weeks). In this case I'll publish the times here like I did in November/December.

Are you having video errors only when using the webcam (not that bad) or are you having two separate issues at once ( :-X)?

Re-install postponed a bit. Few weeks ago the video card controller started to send error messages after every reboots. Then came the other problem, seems to be a separate one: another error message saying some kind of disorder with an unidentified hardware's connection - after that webcam became invisible for the system (tried to re-install the driver, no success). Since that a third problem appeared with battery (imagine how nervous I was about it), 3-3.5 hours with one charge was falling heavily in the last 24 hours to 20 minutes, diagnostic program said I have to replace it with a new one (it said the cells are damaged with extremely low storage capacity). This last one was solved: removing and putting back battery - and magic happens: it works again normally (probably it lost the contact a bit).

The battery error is back after a good 3 hours period... :-\ Service will be visited tomorrow, hopefully they can solve the problems fast enough.

Edit: after some pushing-pulling, it seems to work again. My guess is some kind of deformation at the contact part - it must move away a bit when it says the battery is almost dead. It said: 10% charge, few minutes later 70%, then switched it off, pushing a few millimeters, restarted system and then it says the battery is full, I have 3 hours 27 minutes left with that. However, I have to show it to the service.

Got it back earlier, but service saga continues: since the covering was opened for the repair, keyboard is not fixed perfectly - the left upper corner with Esc, F1-F4, etc. is instable. Going back to make them fix it (hopefully it will be a few minutes work for them), update in the afternoon.

Problems with the site - kind of error appears when I try to upload the files. Zak, can you take a look at it please?

Zak: problems again... :-\ Now it seems to be a different error, saying I reached the upload limit... (no way, the whole USC stuff is about 10 MB)

For pipsqueaks: http://unskilled.tvn.hu (http://unskilled.tvn.hu) is working.

Edit: cleared the directory, tried to upload - same error message about the quota, saying I still have 234 MB data there and limit is 200...

IMPORTANT!!! I just realized that 1st June (Monday) is a red-letter day, that's why I won't come back to Budapest on Sunday. It would not be fair to announce my final time one day after the race ended so I decided to move it - new deadline is 1st June, midnight! It's also better to avoid the clashing with ZCT95's deadline...

Well, good for me.  :)  Even because I'll stay away last two days of May, and before this announcement I had to send my final time Friday evening, two days before the deadline... A glad and unexpected "gift" for me in order to reach a decent result. I really think that the final winning time will be very strong, even seeing current appearently lack of interest for this race. So my main goal remains not a win but a good job... ;)

This track is not so tricky, differences will be low at the top. There's only one way, one trick to make a bigger gap - do you know it, Duplode? ;)

Indeed a linear race, with not big cuts or jumps... You're talking about a trick, but... really I don't see it...   ::)   Wow, 4 months without a race and... are you saying I lost in a so bad way my shape...?
Mhmm, I'm starting to think I'll finish very far from the winner...  :-\

Duplode did everything he could do for the undisputed championship title (1:18.15!!!) - let's see how BJ's conspiracy plot will work in the next few hours. And another crucial question: will I find any motivation to choose racing instead of drinking tonight? ;D

Mediorce solution: a poor improvement is coming soon. Maybe good for having enough time bonus points... ;)

Edit #1: 1:20.30 with a crappy ending at the moment...

Edit #2: 1:18.15, draw! Shall I keep pushing or can I start the heavy drinking? ;D

I was sure I had to re-drive the first part of the track...  Really a pity that I had not enough time to do it...
I won't be on the podium, but this race deserved to take part in it, and I'm glad anyway to be on the scoreboard.

Literally, this is EPIC WIN  ;D Only issue for now is how to squeeze three winners into a single column of the Competition Archive .txt datasheets  :D As for the "personal duel", in the end this hazy finish is all for the best - CTG has the largest points total, I have more victories, he beats me by the minimum gap in head-to-head, I had at least one throwaway-ish race, he lost at least one race he would never lose in normal conditions... and this result allows us all to say: who cares?  :)

Congratulations to all pipsqueaks in this final showdown, thanks to CTG for being the enthusiastic host he always is... and special thanks to BJ for pointing out quite a few extremely silly mistakes on some laps that would cause me to waste guaranteed points (or better, waste even more guaranteed points than I actually did)  ;)

Congratulations to Duplode for his great season and to CTG for the precise and accurate management of this championship.  :)

That's something of a finish, I must say! I'm at the 4th place to make you all feel better about your results ;)
Congratulations to Duplode for winning the competition! USC is a prestigious historical competition. And thanks for findings tricks and shortcuts allowing me to get nice results with very little effort on some tracks :)

Now, let's all turn toward CTG and clap at him for so long that he comes out again and restarts the competition. I don't know how to live without it! It will feel very lonely with only Zakstunts around, and USC was always the cutting-edge competition with exhilarating tracks and a special feeling to it.
Deep inside, we know CTG is not a quitter, only a wannabe-quitter :) So let's make this a short break and then let USC move on!

(and of course I'll be disappointed if you say anything but "nope, sorry, this time it's real - the end", CTG ;))

Amazing video and very interesting analysis!
First of all, I have to congratulate also with BJ: his first part of the track is really great! He lead until 35" and only an evident lack of time to play impeded him to be on the podium: congratulations again, BJ!  :)

Second highlighting, I have to say that I'm really surprised to see that I'm the fastest on the 270° on the elavated corner!  :o  Elevated corners (above all 180° or 270°) have been always a little problem for me, and really I didn't think to be so fast!  :)

Third, there's only a difference about the line chose by the fastest 4, that is the entrance on the 2nd elevated tract: Duplode and CTG inside the corkscrew (with unavoidable stopped-slide, very good anyway the execution), BJ and me outside it, but I succeeded to avoid the stopped-slide executing a "normal" curve at 245 Mph that permitted me to take the lead until the end.

Well, in every way you see this race you can see only a wonderful race by 4 passionated stunts drivers: a real great show!  :)

This one was made in Windows Movie Maker upgraded with some PIP functions (useful stuff from http://www.rehanfx.org (http://www.rehanfx.org)). Speed change can be solved with a primitive but effective method: if you cut and speed up/slow down the every single videos before uniting them. A bit too much work...
