Better play JDoom! The Mouselook is better than in ZDoom, the graphics don't stretch that strangely, you can have real 3d models (for weapons, enemies, items...) and openGL graphics!
Then download some custom WAD files somewhere on the web, there is one called "rebirth" for DOOMII, it's really well-designed!
