But we can't be quite sure.

Binary - decimal conversion needs only patience. The dice... well, that's easier.

An interesting site: http://anydice.com (dice probability calculator, not only for cubic version)

I used a calculator - but I thought it isn't disallowed. If it's a problem, you can take the 'best tip' away from me for the binary-decimal conversion case.

I still think that this kind of questions are meaningless. If you are good at Maths, you can calculate the values (I think I would have been able to calculate it on paper, but it would have taken awfully a lot of time). I can't really see the difference between using a calculator and using a paper, a pencil and your brain - those are assistances as well, making the whole tipping a calculation game. It is the same for the date difference calculation/tipping as well...

Well, I agree that if you start calculating, maybe it isn't really "estimation" anymore. But I'm just asking because I was informed directly by CTG that I was not allowed to use a calculator, so I attempted to calculate the binary number only with the help of my brain and Notepad. But I made two mistakes, so the final result went off. My brain is not a calculator.
But we can't be quite sure.

I'm answering you because I wasn't told that. Therefore, I'm obviously not 'proud' of my 'winning' 'tip'.

This is the beginning period of a game (only 2nd round), the rules has to be set first CLEARLY. Or, I suggest, CTG (or anyone who write questions) may neglect 'calculation type' questions.

This is not a bloody contest - just a game. But yes, you are right, I should say "don't use a calculator" earlier.

BonzaiJoe

You know how it is here - we're competitive people  :D
But we can't be quite sure.

Yeah but I still think this is not a bloody serious competition. Kill eachother in Stunts, not in such a stupid tipping game... :D

Calculating is not cheating - if you do it without a calculator. :D
Yes, it is me. No, I'm not back at racing (for now...)

OK, so I guess they should count. BUT, we need to make rules clear and maybe leave out calculating questions. And find a way to let CTG play, something like "worst tipper of the round asks next rounds questions"
