News, not from the best: Yohan Blake is under investigation because of wearing a wrist watch during the semis (different brand than the official timing sponsor of Olympic Games) and in worst case he'll be disqualified for that "horrible crime". Nonsense...

Another bad one for Jamaica: Asafa Powell can't participate in 4x100 relay because of his injury. It means they won't be able to break their own WR.

False start by K-4... Does it mean DQF?

Edit #1: no, they could start again. 2nd place at 250 m, will they fall back at the end?
Edit #2: 500 m, 2nd place, but... I will be satisfied even with a bronze.
Edit #3: SILVER MEDAL! WELL-DONE!

K-1, Danuta Kozák, GOLD MEDAL!!! :D

And from now: go Kovács and Janics! I'm afraid of the latter one (after having a baby she didn't really win back her top shape)

I expected 1 gold medal plus 1 silver/bronze medal for the day, so I'm satisfied, since there is still a kayak event left (plus the female water polo bronze match, though I think we won't like the physical polo of the Aussies).

I think the Hungarian men, not only in kayak, are generally performing slightly above expectations in the Olympic Games.

But we can't be quite sure.

Unbelievable: gold medal for Éva Risztov in 10 km swimming!!! Has anybody expected that?

8-4-3.  8)

8-4-3 with a surprise gold medal from Éva Risztov!!! That is amazing, what is happening?! She was a great talent, then a decent 400m freestyle/800m freestyle/200 butterfly/400m medley swimmer, 4 times WCH silver medallist in 2003. She retired then due to her disappointedness, but took up competitive swimming a few years ago again. She started to focus on long distance swimming, also including open water swimming. Today, she is the Olympic Champion of 10 km open water swimming! That is a fabulous story!

a real underdog's excellent surprise.

Btw it seems Beijing fiasco is balanced now with these lucky games.

Risztov was a real 'dark horse', nobody knew her skills, since was is her first long distance swimming on a world event. Hungarian sports sites mentioned her name today as a 'who knows' category competitor, whispered a possible medal chance, but I think they also wasn't aware of her real chances. Bwin held odds for her at 31.00. I didn't expect a medal from her. Due to her results in the pool, and considering that she just didn't have the power to swim the fastest at finish, it is not that surprising to call her a victorious underdog I think on his first 10 km big event. Thus, she is the Hungarian Paula Radcliffe in my opinion.

Silly idea or not, but I would be glad to see a formula car race in Olympic Games (with equal cars). The other thing I miss from the program is chess.

First I would call the missing fencing and modern pentathlon (team) events back! :)
