I slept away the GER-POR match... it seems I became a little bit ill, I'm very sleepy and weak and have a sore throat...

Because of this, the IRN-NGA match was the first I could watch from start to finish. It wasn't worthy... weak performance by both teams... but at least I earned 3 points.

As boring as Argentina vs Bosnia. Bad luck Akoss.  :-\

Chulk/Rotoi: What do you think of Argentina's performance vs Bosnia?
We played awfully. Only Romero, Zabaleta, Rojo, Mascherano, Gago & Higuain playing at an acceptable level. The rest of the guys did not play even a 50% of what they're capable of (Di Maria & Agüero being the clearest example of it).
Many think the system change (from 4-3-3 to 5-3-2) is to blame, but I think it wouldn't have mattered if players had been at their top performance.
If you think about it, 5-3-2 system won 1-0 its own half, while 4-3-3 got a 1-1 draw so clearly it had more to do with players level than tactics
Yes, it is me. No, I'm not back at racing (for now...)

Today:

Belgium - Algeria: beerland will suffer, but they must win (probably only with a single goal).

Brazil - Mexico: easy home victory versus the thiefs.

Russia - South Korea: I would be glad with a Russian victory (davaj-davaj Rossija!), but dirty lucky cheater rice-guzzlers will survive with a draw.

Btw Iran-Nigeria was one of the worst world cup matches I've ever seen - but at least I was falling asleep around the 70th minute. ;D The other match: USA was really underestimated by the experts. If they can steal at least a single point from the demotivated Portugals, they can be in the knock-out phase.

BonzaiJoe

I don't think Iran vs Nigeria was that boring. Nigeria just played really badly, as I had expected. Iran played the best they could.

I don't think USA was very strong last night. The Ghanese defence was just a disgrace. Ghana spent 60 minutes with the ball to score one goal and USA spent 2 minutes with the ball scoring 2 goals. I think Portugal is very likely to make it to the knock-out phase despite their 0-4 defeat.
But we can't be quite sure.

I hope you are wrong. But whatever happens, they will say: "cr was injured", that will be the reason for everything. What's more, they'll say he's a hero because he was on the field in spite of his injury.

BonzaiJoe

It's just that as far as I can judge from yesterday's games, Portugal will beat USA in the next round and Germany will beat Ghana. And then Portugal probably just needs 1 point vs Ghana.
But we can't be quite sure.

Bad luck week for Iberian Peninsula.
I don't think "luck" had much to do with it. They just received a slap in the face from history itself. The Netherlands have always been better than Spain except for the last 6 years and had better results in world cups except for 2010.
And I don't even have to talk about the difference between a 3-time world champion and the one with most finals played and a team that didn't even win a Continent Cup (Euro in this case).
Just because the have Cristiano they think they are great and can beat anyone, but, as Lineker once said, "Football is a simple game. 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and in the end, the German always win"

Does anyone remember Euro 1996? ;D

I'm surprised to see the half-time result of Beerland - Brainless Terrorists duel... ::)

The half-wannabe-Belgian-nigger, half EU-Brussel terrorist team has won with luck against the poor Algerians... sad news...

Taste a strong Belgian beer in Brussels, it will change your mind. ;D

BRA-MEX 2-0 would make Stunts mini-league quite balanced.

CTG

Great second half, but this Brasilian team doesn't really seem to be a future world champion.
