The thing is they use a different distribution of Stunts, so I guess for them to use it for their tournament, the changes would have to be reapplied to the Mindscape version

Oh, good to know. In this case I fear it's impossible to provide them the upgrade, barring exceptional efforts. Pity, hope some of them are lurking here and will try out the mod anyway.

Even if the mod can't be used in the competition there, I guess they will enjoy knowing about and playing with it anyway. And who knows, the mod might even change their minds and make them go back to 1991 Broderbund next year!  :D  So I have posted about it. ( @Cas Hope you won't mind me hijacking your thread over there  :) )

Thanks @Duplode! Thanks also for taking the time to create custom screenshots :-)

No prob!  Actually, it'd be very good if they'd approach us more, like by changing the official distribution  8)

Quote from: Cas on February 07, 2025, 06:15:24 PMI have to use this mod on 4:00am!  I created the track putting scenery very packed to counteract the poor visibility of Stunts engine. It'll look amazing with this

Your 4:00am has meanwhile become one of my favourite test benches when I try new features :)

Dear rаcers,

I am glad to present you the new release of my mod: SuperSight 2.00.

The new version number does not bring revolutionary improvements, but it wants to represent that the project has reached a certain maturity and stability, and also that the focus will be less on the raw number of polygons and more on other aspects of the playing experience.

Here the new features since v1.5:
* Unlocked the camera zoom.
* Unlocked the camera elevation. Note that if you go to 90° (elevation = 256) the camera will be fixed with having the North on the top of the screen. This is a consequence of how the Stunts graphic engine works, up to you if you consider it a feature or a bug.
* Extended the status infos shown with the F5 keys. Now they also show the camera orientation. Useful to reproduce particular screenshots, compare replays, etc.
* Fixed the bug where the explosion effect would sometimes appear in a wrong position (related discussion).
* Minor tweaks to the rendering algorithm.
* Reduced the exe size to 250 KB, so that you can load more tracks on your floppy disk.

SuperSight 2.00 is in attachment (filename SS-200.EXE). For daring players I also provide version 2.00X (filename SS-200X.ZIP), which features the overtuned 3D engine I developed last summer (details). Version 2.00X boasts better graphics, but it crashes sometimes, so I don't recommend it for "serious" speedruns.

Thanks to @llm for the contributions, to @KyLiE for the testing and to everyone for trying it out!

Congratulations on the release! I'll be sure to start testing it out. Am I right in thinking that this version has the same performance as version 1.5?

Yes, exactly. I made minor tweaks to fix a slight asymmetry, but this should not influence the CPU load.

To complement my release announcement, I published a new replay video showing the fastest replay on the top-voted track of the year. Enjoy!
