CTG, have you never tasted Tesco Economy beer??? (Nowadays they call it Viking.) I think it's the cheapest beer in Hungary. Its quality is something like Koccint?s wine - but you won't get drunk, because it contains only 3% alcohol! :D

Schlossmühle is cheaper. ;D

Akoss Poo a.k.a. Zorromeister

New beer tasted:

Adelsburg (HUN) 1/10
Chürműű! :-)

3629.90 km

Are you, one day, going to stop tasting new beers, look at your list and start just drinking the ones that are rated highly and priced low? :)
But we can't be quite sure.

We do already. Testing is only the 10 percent of my beer intake. ;)

Another beer combo:

San Miguel (ESP, 5.4% alcohol, 399 HUF/0.5 l): I don't know if I tried this already earlier or not - so I had to taste it again(?). Not very characteristic, average taste, good for warm days. Mark: 5.5/10

1664 Blanc (FRA, 5% alcohol, 319 HUF/0.25 l): not exactly a beer - it contains added spices: orange, coriander. Excellent taste but it's really not beerish. Mark: unofficial 10/10, don't add it to the rankings.

Satan Red (BEL, 8% alcohol, 539 HUF/0.33 l): Belgian and strong - quite a usual one. Nothing more. Mark: 7.5/10

I can't do it this time, but next traveling time I may bring some Chinese beers for you to include in the rankings. :)

Very nice offer but I'm a bit afraid of Chinese alcoholic drinks - Jacky told some terrible things about it... (not beer, but Er Gou Tou, the gasoline taste wine).

Btw I'm drinking Tokaji Aranyfürt wine at the moment (semi-sweet, very tasteful).

Anyway from now this topic is open for other alcoholic drinks too - feel free to post about pálinka, whisky, wine, vodka, cherry, absinth, brandy, etc...  ;)

I have just returned from a fancy supermarket, where tinned (355ml) Chinese beers range from HUF 50 to 100, and there were several Korean and Japanese available as well...

I have bought a Tsingtao and a Shanshui for my brother. :)

BonzaiJoe

Tsingtao is really good, but it's big, you can also get it in Europe. Yanjing is another classic chinese beer which is reasonably good. From Japan, I only remember Asahi. I hope you're having a great trip :)

But 'Beer' topic title sounds still better...

I have just returned from the local massage saloon, where I had a 2 hour long Chinese massage with a beautiful girl (of course without the here-so-common "happy ending"!) followed by a seafood dinner on the seashore, so I just couldn't be any better.

Love this country. :)

I wonder why people forgot to make silly jokes from this... ;D

Two newbies and an almost forgotten one from 2006:

Lasko Zlatorog (SLO, 4.9 % alcohol, 179 HUF/0.5 l): average beer for a warm day. Quality is something like Borsodi or Soproni. Mark: 5.5/10

Baltika No. 7 (RUS, 5.4% alcohol, 579 HUF/0.5 l): not very strong but tasteful refreshing light beer from Russia. What a shame, it's too expensive... Mark: 7.5/10

Info for Usrin: these are available in Auchan (Savoya Park) - thanks to Parador Co. There are also some unusual beer from Belgium (several brands), France (several brands), Portugal (Sagres), Vietnam (Saigon), Japan, Romania...

And the old one:

El Grande (FRA, 5.9% alcohol, don't remember the price, maybe ~350 HUF/0.33 l two years ago): contains added rum which gives quite a good taste to this beer. Not my favorite but it was worth to try. Mark: 8/10

And so many beers are missing from my rankings tried in 2006: Schöfferhofer, Köstritzer Schwarzbier, Wernesgrüner, etc... I can't really remember them.
