Matteo

Hello everybody.
I'm a 23 years old Italian guy. I almost forgot this fantastic game since yesterday, when I found it in this website.

See you, I hope to join those competitions soon!

BonzaiJoe

But we can't be quite sure.

Welcome Matteo! When do you play Stunts before to "forget" it?

Matteo

mhhh let me remind...

It was between when I was 10 to 13... So 1994-1997. I was simpy Stunts addicted.

I'm trying the old standard track. 1.10.90, I'm slowly remembering how to play.  :D

Well, when I re-discover Stunts on the web more or less 18 months ago, my skill was not higher than yours. But then I knew many things about this wonderful game that lead me to reconsider my mode to play it. Above all I discover the "Replay Handling" (RH race) that is... well it's a bit long to explain...
But you can check a specific page of ZakStunts (http://stunts.mine.nu/zakstunts/pics/school/bernie3.gif) pages or Info&Rules page of SDR (http://digilander.libero.it/stunts.SDR/rules/Info&Rules.htm) to know the difference from the classic Stunts mode, "crash&restart" or no Replay Handling (NORH race).
They are two very different ways to play. RH race permits to reach unthinkable perfomances (see Default track records on this page http://stunts.mine.nu/zakstunts/index.php?page=permanent&menu=full), NORH race permits to drive trying to reach as fast as possible the finish line without crash.
It will be interesting to know what you prefer after you race in both contest...  ;)

Duplode

Welcome aboard! And be sure, as Mark said, there is so much below surface about Stunts... 8)

Oufh... That Replay Handling is a bit too complicated, seems something like a cut-paste. I prefer the standard way. Race, race, and if you crash... Restart!

I have a secret hope, that is hearing what you replied!
Since I joined Stunts racing world on the web, I did so much to revive the passion for the great specialty called NORH race. When I arriving all active contests had only RH races. Only ZakStunts offered the possibility to send NORH replays reserving a specific scoreboard for them. But NORH times couldn't consider reliable, because there's no way to distinguish a replay realized in NORH mode from a replay realized in RH mode. And this was the situation until I had a very good intuition: to use the DOSBox video-capture function to capture a whole video of a race! The video proofs that the race was realized without interruptions and reprises, so that's sure a NORH race.
Through the site I was managing since the beginning of 2006 (SDR, I think you know...) I so decided to start in May 2006 the First Official NORH Stunts Contest in the web. To participate, drivers have to send the video of the race captured with DOSBox 0.65 with the replay of the race saved in Stunts (you can find all information about in Info&Rules page I indicated in my previous comment)
Actually, there are 4 drivers who are showing all their NORH skill and above all their passion for this great specialty: Chulk, Duplode, Krys TOFF and me. It would be sure a pleasure if you would join too making more dazzling and joyful the contest, above all in order to keep alive this classic Stunts race.
I know what you mean when you talk of "cut&past" about RH race. This is what I said some months ago about in another topic ("The future of NORH race"):

I'm absolutely sure that NORH race are the true races, the races more similar to the real races, where drivers will have to race not forgetting a basic component of every true race: the risk. It leads a driver to dose his potential during the race considering his current performance. It arouses in a driver unique emotions, which he will have to domain. A race without emotions, it's not a real race, maybe it seems more a work. A pleasing, engaging and satisfying work where mind and hands have a big part, but not a real race where the heart pushed by the adrenaline is the real engine of a driver.

I don't want to discourage you to race in RH races. Replay Handling permits to realize the fastest possible replay, and it's necessary a great skill and experience to succeed to climb on the podium in a RH race. If you want, try it on a whatever active contest. But sure I and the other NORH drivers will be happy if you will join in a NORH race, maybe the next one that will start this evening at 23:59:59. If you want, check after 22:00 the following address http://digilander.libero.it/stunts.SDR/index_SDR.htm, download the track, realize your video and... enter in the great world of NORH racing!

Matteo: welcome! Try UnskilledStunts Championship - http://stunts.mine.nu/unskilled - too! ;)

1:10 is not so bad on Default, I guess only Bonzai Joe is able to drive constant 1:02 results without tricks and shortcuts. Usually I drive 1:03.50-1:05.00.

Welcome Matteo! Mark is right about it, we will really like to see you join a NORH race! And again WELCOME!!!
Yes, it is me. No, I'm not back at racing (for now...)

I was once, but not anymore... I tried racing on Default earlier this month after not having raced since February, and I didn't do anything better than 1.07!
But we can't be quite sure.

BonzaiJoe

Whoa, I just tried again and damn :o I was 0.05 off my 1.01.70 record. Lost it in the last corner   :(
But we can't be quite sure.

With USB keyboard it's very hard for me to race without RH. Since that I didn't try to drive a lap on Default. Tonight I'm going to test it.

Krys TOFF

(late) Welcome aboard the Stunts community ship Matteo. ;)
