Well, I would take some disciplines out and include some new ones. We know changes in Olympics only happen to help the USA win (like adding BMX, what the hell is that shit? Leave it at the X-games and out of the Olympics) so I don't expect any of these to happen. But I would add a couple more martial arts, take out tennis mixed double (it's just like male singles with obstacles), sync swimming seems more a dance than a sport, I would go back to the old amateur rule for team sports, and maybe some kind of "Race of the champions" kind event. Don't really consider chess a sport but I wouldn't mind. Maybe add some indoor football
Yes, it is me. No, I'm not back at racing (for now...)

Overtime on the HUN-AUS female water polo bronze match... we are not leading there again... 11-12...

Rudisha: WR
Bolt: almost OR, he was too lazy at the end (would be 19.23-19.25 without that)
Blake: ran out of power after 150 m

At least we saw a new record.

Today: Hungary - Sweden male handball semi-final, qualifications for kayak/canoe sprint finals (200 m), playing for 5th place vs Australia in male water polo (...). If we don't count the handball event, this one can be a very boring day for us.

WCH bronze medallist Csaba Gercsák will swim in open water. It would be less surprise to see him winning than Risztov yesterday. Gábor Hatos will wrestle for a medal, according to the main Hungarian sports site. These might improve the interestingness of the day.

Still far from yesterday. :D

Bronze medal for Calabrese & De la Fuente: Yatchting, 470.
Silver for female hockey team "Las Leonas": Match against Netherlands was tight, only decided by a huge mistake by the refs on Netherlands first goal that ended up messing up the rest of the game for us.
Defeat against USA in male basketball. Expected loss. Bronze match will be against Russia.
Gold medal for Crismanich: Taekwondo, -80kg.

Tomorrow Miguel Correa & Ruben Rézola will take part on K2, 200m final. They got there with the 6th best time from semis. Chances are not that high but who knows...

Glorious victory by Brazilian women at volleyball! Brazil 3-1 USA (11-25; 25-17; 25-20; 25-17). In a few minutes Esquiva Falcão will be in our third final of the day, at 75kg boxing.

Too bad you lost to Mexico in football. I hate Mexicans so much I almost wanted you to win instead of just wanting Mexico to lose.

Weaker finish than it was expected.

Janics only took a bronze in kayak sprint, I counted on a ninth gold (we had more than eight gold medals in Barcelona, 1992 for the last time).

I thought about a team sport medal. One, no matter what colour it is. (That was my expectation before the whole games, too). Well, two 4th places and a 5th place. That's sad. Really sad for the handball team, against Sweden in the SF, we just lost, 26-27... we had several chances to equalize in the end, but we just couldn't (post, turnover, referees, goalie saved etc.)... I had the thought that if we could have equalized, and could have taken the lead, we would have won the game. After the water polo team lost in the QF (which caused the mourn of a legend, and heartbreak for many Hungarian girls), we clinched 5th place after beating Australia and Spain. The girls lost in overtime to Australia in the water polo bronze match.

Csaba Gercsák and the wrestlers got no medals, but that would have been a surprise.

In modern pentathlon, one bronze medal ended in Hungarian neck. That is not bad, realistic, this event is rather luck... but Hungarians are good at it.

In the medal table, HUNGARY finished in 9th place (8-4-5). That is excellent, the best since Barcelona, 1992 (7th or 8th place, 11-12-7, as far as I remember, there). The number of gold medals is simply amazing. The amount of medals (17) is also a bit above expectations. It seems Hungary is still a sports nation, Beijing was only a misfortunate fail. Dániel Gyurta said that since unlike in preceding Olympics, Hungary had won the first gold medal early... and that determined everything, the others just kept on coming, as the good basic mood had been already set. Overall, I am satisfied with the Olympics.

After a long time, the Hungarian female handball championship seems to be exciting. Ferencváros got a lot stronger in the summer, while Györi ETO sold some key players (for example Vérten went to the rival), so they must be almost equal in strength now. ETO has to face a damned tight championship. Go, Görbicz, go!!!  ;D

Good performance from MKB Veszprém in handball Champions League!

Today:
MKB Veszprém - THW Kiel 31-30 (14-15)  ;)

In the previous round:
