Ebola pandemic: hysteria, real threat or apocalypse? Vote and explain.

I hope it won't as infectious and mortal in Europe/America - both the general health status of European people and the healthcare is ways better than in Africa. But... as a paranoid and pessimistic person, I predict a worldwide catastrophy in a few weeks/months. If there will be a pandemic in Hungary, living in a large blocks of flats and using public transpont (probably the worst tram line from the aspect of travelmates: overcrowded, with many gypsies and homeless people (low hygenie level for both groups)) will be a guarantee for me to catch the illness and - because of the general weakness of my immune system - to die.

It's the favourite disease of the famous Fostartály (=shit tank) grindcore metal band!!!

I think the best solution could have been closing the borders of the affected countries already at the beginning and not to transport infected people to other continents. Even with the best efforts, there will be people ignoring the rules (even in the medical staff) or simply crapping on the danger - they will be the carriers. Keeping the pandemic in a closed area would make it easier to stop the illness.

Yes but in that way where is the business? If you contain the pandemic they can't use the hysteria as a weapon and sell a cure.

Pandemic menaces are stronger weapons to control the people even than security or terrorism excuses.

Considering it is spread through blood or body fluids and it is not spread through air, I think NOT getting it is not that hard. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the way it spreads seems similiar to HIV and I don't see people freaking out on a pandemia (they even continue having unprotected sex because YOLO).
So my vote is: "Media hysterical overreaction to frighten people and make them buy useless safety measures"
Yes, it is me. No, I'm not back at racing (for now...)

BonzaiJoe

It's a lot more dangerous than HIV. HIV vira die when they come into open air.
But we can't be quite sure.

I know this: If somebody sneeze on you, you may be infected. If that person sneezes 2 meters away there is no risk. It was told by a doctor on TV today.

CTG

It speads with body fluids, e.g. saliva or sweat. Just touch the handrail on the bus or a door handle a few minutes after an infected person - another few minutes later you might touch your mouth / nose / eyes... abracadabra... it's in you!

Chulk

So all it requires is not to get sneezed on the face and eat someone else's sweat? Ok, no big deal, I don't do that anyway :)
I still think it's an overreaction, specialy it not being airborne
Yes, it is me. No, I'm not back at racing (for now...)
