I would prefer to work on the 3D model if possible.

I'd be happy to try finding you a partner. Maybe something like assigning the both of you together step 1 and 2 and letting you figure out who does what for the right distribution of the creative and technical load.

Zapper

Well, I already joined, so you must be talking to yourself again.
I bet it's zapper,  8)

..and then you were right Daniel3D ;)
After some past experience on giving some hints and work in colaboration some of these steps with KyLie and Ryoma, and the invitation from Overdrijf, I'm here to participate in the following steps:

4 - Base performance
5 - Engine and gearbox
6 - Base dashboard image

For the video part I have no experience, but if necessary I hope to find someone in this community car project to make the video. I will provide screenshots and notes as a guide.

Be sure to pick somebody with -a lot- of patience.  ;D

And with that we have a brand new performance specialist on board!

Okay, so there have been some... recent developments, as in since a day and a half, that may end up eating much of my Stunts time until the start of June, and possibly Daniel's as well, and maybe even yours if you want... But it's for a really cool cause! If this thing starts panning out over the next week or so I'll make a separate forum post about that. For now I'm going to write this post as if nothing has happened and then I'll tag on a paragraph of what the other cool thing could mean.

So, with six people in, this is what the work distribution would look like based as much as possible on the preferences:

1+2 3D models: Daniel and Argammon*
3 Paintjob: Overdrijf**
4 Performance: Zapper
5 Engine: KyLiE**
6 Dashboard: Cas
7 Dash details: ???*** (Late entry, Overdrijf, a volunteer or a collaboration)
8 Text and testing: Kylie (with possibly some people offering help and suggestions, no pressure)

*=I didn't ask Daniel this beforehand, but hereby: could you function as a bit of a manager to yourself and Argammon on this part? I'm willing to chip in as a teacher, I've got recent Stressed experience, so all the best practices are fresh in my head.
**=Based on preferences Kylie and Overdrijf could also be switched around. I mainly figured that steps 5 and 8 were a good combination. One is out front, the other under the hood, and much of the work is testing, which can be somewhat combined to save some work. Although I wouldn't really mind working on the .res with Zapper, so I don't know. If KyLiE likes 3 abd 5 better the other way around we can probably just switch. Having peeferences is hard.
***=Haha, three question marks is a smiley.

So that would be my proposal. Daniel said he didn't have time until early May, so with that division of labor the project would start getting up to speed 2 months from now. After that everyone is up when the person before them is finished (although if you have things you can do earlier feel free to do so).

Cas and myself have expressed enthusiasm for a video add-on to the project, KyLiE and Zapper have expressed provisional enthusiasm provided they cab get some help or advice and Argammon and Daniel haven't stated a super clear preference in the thread but seem pretty open to the idea. So with pseudo-unanymous support I would suggest moving forward with the idea, trying to get a two minute or so update out of every one or two steps in the process. If something goes a bit wrong like one of them is delayed to when the next one is already published, no worries, they're mostly pretty separate steps anyway.

However...

The other cool thing would have a deadline of June 3rd. It only pushes the proper starting date back by a month, but that does mean we then only have 7 months left in the year, with an increased risk of not launching before the new competitive season. But since the main point of the project is the creating itself that would be fine to me.

Does that sound like a plan?

Sounds good to me!  Regarding steps 3 and 5, I'm happy with your proposal, but if you think that having control over the engine and gearbox will help with configuring the dashboard, I'm also happy to swap with you. :)

Cas

Alright!  So do I just pick what I like for the dash?  Is it a novel car we're making?

If you're happy I'm happy. I like coloring stuff.

You're step 6, so you are allowed to take inspiration from the 3D shape and the performance in making your dashboard. It qould be nice if in the end the whole thing sort of came together. But other than that, yes, you just pick what you like for the dash. Feel free to think outside of the box a bit, as long as it seems like something that could probably be made to work in step 7.

Pseudo-edit: Although it would be kind of funny to start with a dashboard, then do the internals and then the 3D shape...
