Competition and Website / Retro Tracks
September 04, 2003, 07:05:27 PM
I think a permanent competition would be better, kalpen A was the field experiment for such a thing - one could see, that it was not unfair to the newbies, but the improvement to the historic result wasn't very dramatic. And I'd rather like new tracks. It's like starting a new  track with the replay of your team mate. you can get good times quickly simply by redoing it, and if you're able, eliminating the mistakes. But it's not as much *fun* as finding shortcuts and the optimal way for yourself. so i'd plea for permanent competition.

Do you make the movies picture by picture or is there some more comfortable way?

thanks satanziege

i did understand the rules so, that all pro/amateur labels are preliminary until the end of the season. Whoever has fulfilled the "four races as pro" rule will IMO then count as a pro for the season concluded, whoever is a amateur then will count as amateur in all results. And if i understood it right you will not have an amateur ranking if you have a pro ranking. So whoever is in pro 4 times by now will unevitably become a pro pipsqueak at the end of the season.

I for my part don't mind ;) I'll try to meet the rules as they are now, but is one thing which Alain mentiones, that does confuse me too: Which month do count as "Pro month" which one as "Amateur month"? The month if upgraded to pro (means getting first or second amateur) will it count as pro month? and month i'm downgraded to amateur - will it be already amateur month or still pro month?

thanks so long, satanziege

Really a nice one ;) The first half was really cool, but when i drove the second half, i saw what jtk meant in the comment...
I like this one much more than the CTrackA. Much cooler.
Couldn't stop racing it and beat my first time already by some seconds ;)

I think the most ingenious ideas mentioned above and one of the ideas which should be quite easy to realise is the extension of the permanent competition. There will be perhaps 1 driver per year who will even get near the top5 times, but if at least the not closed standard tracks would get a unlimited hi score list newbies might be tried to enter their time. noone will try it if he knows he's far from this time, and with some 20 drivers per track this competition might become something as the StuntsDriver Valhalla at Kalpen.de ;)

Quote from: "alanrotoi"New pipsqueaks will stay if:

- there is a previous generation with motivation

- there is competitivity (I mean if they can get a good place in the scoreboard)

As a quite new pipsqueak I'd like to support that only in parts:
I for my part liked it very much, that there were so many excellent drivers active, I probably wouldn't have joined if there were only ten drivers in Zak's or so. But the second part with getting good places: I really like it more when there are *excellent* opponents, I appreciated it more becoming 11 out of 20 something in my first month at Zak's than becoming pro in my first month due to lack of oppenents.

The fun for my is not primarily getting good positions quickly but the "damn, he beat me by 2 seconds, let's see if i don't get him" even if it's only the fight for 15th place. And i fear that if everyone stops playing cause he doesn't like the tracks or only becomes 4th this possibility for fighting might end.

Winning is surely nice, but there's a german saying which translates roughly "The way is the goal" (Der Weg ist das Ziel). ;)

**edit:
Just looked my saying up, actually it's probably not a german one, but by konfuzius :)
** edit end

satanziege lives in M?nster, in a 2-room flat, not enough for an international meeting, perhaps we should find a congress center ;).

Grmbl. racing doesn't yield enough money...
