I don't know what the point was. I remember that I didn't understand it back then either. So I could be mistaken.

So. We're going big on the world meeting.

Then we need a plan. And a agenda.
Time to prepare as well.

Location: Amsterdam
Outside activities:
- channel tour (private)?
- go cart racing ?
- going out for a few beers.
Stunts activities:
- some presentation/debate about the future of stunts?
- a knockout competition

200 km nord? ;)

Thanks for taking the lead, Daniel. I really appreciate that, and I like your ideas. :)

Regarding accommodation, is it affordable to rent a holiday home for a day or two? Then, we would have a place to sleep and to play stunts.

Beklager, jeg har ikke sett meldingen og ante ikke hvem du var.  :)

Yes, I think that we can. But then it would be convenient to have transportation and drivers as well.
I can get at least 2 car's that seat 7 people (and maybe a 9p mini van). But I can't drive.
So we'll need that as well.

I have a driver's license and so do others, I guess.  :) So that should be fine.

The holiday home is likely expensive if only a few pipsqueaks attend. So, we can only book one after people commit.

Yes, but it will be cheaper than individual hotel accomodations.
I know of a park nearby that has double 10 person houses.
So 20 people per pair (if I'm not mistaken)

Is there Airbnb in Amsterdam? That should have a big selection of apartments/holiday homes.
Unfortunately I can confirm only 1-2 months before the meeting if I am attending. Family & work issues are unpredictable... But if I am joining, I can drive.

There are several options for accomodations. Maybe I can arrange a scalable reservation somewhere. An Airbnb may not have enough facilities for a large group but that is something to find out.

I'm interested by the way, just didn't have much to say on the topic.

Quote from: Usrin on November 24, 2022, 03:12:51 PMIs there Airbnb in Amsterdam?

Yes but also sort of. They have been cracking down on it in recent years, because there were loads of people renting cheap state subsidized apartments, putting them up on Airbnb and living somewhere else.

Speaking of which, if this is indeed happening somewhere in or near the Netherlands I'd be willing as the hosting and non-travelling party to help arrange some things from this end.

On the accommodations front I could ask about my scout clubhouse. It's new, it's pretty big, it has zero beds and 3 couches (but lots and lots of floor space to lie down on) and it should be cheaper than Airbnb's in Amsterdam, but it also sits at a 20 minute train ride and either 20 minutes on a (rented?) bicycle or a wait and a pretty long bus ride from the nice big touristy city you'd want to be visiting if you're in the country anyway. And I'm also not sure we already do non-scouting related bookings, or what the current deal with internet access is. So there's some pros and some cons and some things I'd have to ask about.

There might also in general be some other options like this but outside of my own direct network that are easier to book if you speak Dutch and are able to look around locally.

In general I'm not super connected to Amsterdam itself though. That's one of the few places around here I haven't lived in.

(If the meeting is somewhere else that obviously changes the roles a bit.)

Thanks @Overdrijf and @Daniel3D for many good ideas. 👍

It is also good that the local organization rests on two shoulders. Assuming we go for the Netherlands, which I hope. :)

The first we should decide is probably the date. Should we do this here or is using a doodle more efficient?

dreadnaut

Too early to say for me, but vaguely interested. Something like two nights in AMS could work. Happy with a high-occupation flat, but I'm ready with inflatable mat and sleeping bag if needed.

O, right, good to mention it here too: I made a poll about dates. At least 2 people already found it. 8)
