Quote from: Daniel3D on January 24, 2022, 09:12:19 AMThere is no fun in winning via a trick that nobody knows (right?)
When you put it like that, it would be kind of fun to secretly develop your own complex shortcut and then design a track around it. ;D Keep posting faster laps throughout the non-public days and see if anyone figures it out. 8)

Also @Alan: I don't suppose you have sorted the data by "Zak" and "not Zak", did you? That might be an interesting point of viewing it. Zak designed so many tracks, he'll be submitting very varied designs and he won't be tempted to try harder on his own tracks. It's possible that you'd see a slightly stronger effect without him.

Overall I feel like I gain more of an advantage from using a car I'm more familiar with than from having designed the track.

Yeah, I kind of see that.

When I see Duplode's winning replay I'll admire the skill and how I can't do that, but it feels like something you can do in this game with enough of the aforementioned skill. When I see CTG's winning replay I'll often be admiring some weird shortcut I wouldn't have thought of, but I can see how it works ones you do think of it.

When I rewatch that Ayrton video I'm more like "He's not playing the same game I am. This is some sort of hack with car flight enabled. This doesn't even look fun to play anymore, it's too easy, just fly to the finish and you're done. Why do I even like this broken mess of a game?"

Final car list? ???

First race every car. The ones people actually pick will be used the rest of the year.

...We'll decide what their coefficient was after the fact.  ;D

Anyway, to make it all night sky there must be edited the horizon too. I think this would be the easy part. Only an external editor like stressed I supose.

I tried making an edited horizon ones. The game just didn't load the world and gave some sort of error, even though I had replaced one of the original horizon files (except of course not having the compressed file type) with it and had made sure the dimensions and mystery bites were the same as for an original skyline. My suspicion at the time was that an uncompressed Skyline might be too big and overflow some sort of value or the game is hardwired to only look for the compressed filetype.

Or maybe I just screwed up because I don't know enough about computers...

Quote0E6h/0E7h, 0E8h/0E9h, 0EAh/0EBh, 0ECh/0EDh - another series of values, this time 0020h, 00C0h, 0080h and 0040h. The resemblance to the default values of the surface grip modifiers, which are located near these positions, is uncanny: were they intended to refer to a second set of tyres?

I just added the bold part; did someone make the same hypothesis in the past?

The values are roughly an order of magnitude smaller than the other ones. Either they're not quite the same kinds of values, or they were for some really slippery stuff.
