Stunts Drivers Races / Re: RH Season 2007 - Comments

Soon very near 4 drivers at first checkpoint for a balanced challenge, but a fifth one deserves to be mentioned afore others: Paleke, absolute ouset for him in a SDR race!  :)   Very balanced results for others: I lead ahead Krys TOFF (+ 0"70), SuperBrian (+1"30) and AbuRaf70 (+1"55). One points gained for me at 1st checkpoint, but... who will be able to get the next one? Maybe I pushed too much hard on right pedal like NORH race...   ::)   Anyway, next Sunday we all will have a best vision about how the race will evolve! Who will join? Who will lead at 2nd checkpoint? Let's see!  ;)

Three drivers on track yet in less than three days of race, and a beautiful surprise: Overdrijf, netherlander, which has choosen SDR to begin his Stunts driver career (absolute outset in a Stunts official race on the WEB for him)!  :)   Other two drivers are two old (in every sense...  :D) pipsqueak for SDR NORH races: me and Krys TOFF. Sure assay races for Krys and Overdrijf, but a race more consistently for me. Maybe too much to hope to gain another bonus points at next checkpoint... ::)   Anyway, good beginning of challenge waiting new results and new drivers too!  ;)

Alright, I've just give the track a try and I find myself in a problem.  ;D

I totally forgot about the "intermedios" when I raced, and when I was searching in the rules the mail address to send the replay to, I saw that point of the rules, so I started to look for the map that says there. I found where the map should be but it isn't available yet, so... can somebody tell me where are the "intermedios" suposed to be?

You're right, terrible omission!  :-[    I was sure to have updated RH-Race and NORH-Race pages... but I haven't done it....
Well, I have just fixed, so you and all others drivers can see where I put intermediates...   ;)
In this race the intemediates are forced, simply a driver cannot avoid them. But the rule have a precise goal: to avoid that bug of Stunts permit to end in advance a race or to skip a large section of race in unconventional mode.

By the way, nice track ;)

Thanks!  :)

The track is available, SDR 2007 season has just begun!  :)
Who will catch first bonus point at 1st checkpoint? Keep on mind it's very near: next Sunday at 14.00 (GMT+1) ;)
Good racing to all drivers!

Thanks for your congratulations Zak and CTG!  :)
And thanks also to Krys for his congratulations why I haven't bless!  ;)

Last work for ISM 2007: Analysis!

Check Single Race Standings and go after Maps to see Analysis of the races (use float-menu to go quickly to the race desired). Highlights:

TRACK A
Ayrton built his victory during 2nd section. He was in fact only 0"10 ahead Bonzai Joe at 1st intermediate and his 3rd section time is the same of Bonzai Joe and Mark L. Rivers (!). But his 2nd section time is fantastic: 1" faster than BJ (and 1"50 than Mark L. Rivers). High performances for CTG and Zak McKracken in 2nd section, but the way choosen didn't permit them to have enough speed to jump over the tunnel in last section.

TRACK B
Bonzai Joe reduces gradually his initial gap: 3rd at 1st intermediate, 2nd at 2nd int and 1st at finish. Great final section for him and great final section for Zak McKracken, both faster of all other drivers which choosen their respectively way.

TRACK C
Great first section by CTG over 1" faster than others except Krys TOFF (0"90). Remarkable result for AbuRaf70, 4th at first intermediate, ahead Gutix, Mark L. Rivers, Bonzai Joe, SuperBrian and Ayrton. Excluding Gutix's magic final, another great performance by CTG at third section (about 1"50 better than all others) and very valid time for SuperBrian at second intermediate (4th ahead Mark L. Rivers, AbuRaf70, Bonzai Joe, Krys TOFF and Zak McKracken)

See ISM site for all details!  ;)

Don't expect a replay from me in the first two weeks...

OK, remember that anyway you can get a bonus point leading at 3rd checkpoint...  ;)

When clicking on SDR banner at the portal, there is no more link of ISM event now that you updated SDR page.
I'm not sure everybody saw all the results, your should keep your previous page with competition selection at least for a while I think. ;)
Best would be to have a ISM banner included in the Stunts portal. When SDR stops, ISM will start and so you'll just have to ask Zak to change the portal in order to exchange SDR and ISM banners between active and inactive competitions pages.

Another problem : on your new SDR welcome page, news are written way too small to be read with 1024x768 or higher screen resolution...  :-\

As Tata and the 3 ISM tracks are finished, when can we expect an update ?

SWR update is monthly, normally the 5th day of the month. Next update will include results of Tata, CtrackE and ZCT71. ISM results won't be included because it was a contest "closed". I don't think right that SWR can be affected from a contest where only some drivers can increase their points.

SDR - 2007 Season is starting!

Three days to the start!

A light restyling has been applyed on SDR site. These are some of the new features:

- Frame page system has been introduced and this should permit a faster navigation.
- Animated icons have been eliminated from "Welcome Page" to make more space for results and latest news about current RH and NORH races.
- New "Archive Page" permits to access easily to all past results, analysis, map, track and replays of every race.
- A unique "Rules Page" includes now all SDR rules.
- "Comments Page" has been eliminated. Anyone can express his comments (not offensive towards anyone, please) about tracks and races directly by the forum.

I hope all could result functionally to consult desired info!  :)
Please tell me if you find bugs, thanks!

Stunts Drivers Races / R1/2007 - Mastery
January 28, 2007, 04:07:32 PM

Well, not properly an easy track to begin the season...
Yes, first SDR track for 2007 is really suitable for a top drivers race. To reach a great result, in fact, drivers will have to show all mastery  8) in various specialty: control, best line, increasing speed by jumps, point of brake, hairpin, controlled skids, and others. Speed will be very high in almost two tracts of race, and this won?t simplify the things... not forgetting that drivers will have to solve a cryptic final too... (I wouldn't be between NORH drivers... ;))
Just a little help in the middle of all these severities: a very manageable car, the Porsche 962. But, remember, it's not a robot-car...  ;)

P.S. The Krys TOFF replay you uploaded for Track C is 1.15.00, not 1.14.65, but I guess that's just a mistake. I hope it isn't though :)

Fixed...  ;)

It has been a great event! The "one track per month" competition format was getting monotonous, so it was great with an event like this. Also, racing against the top of the ranking list was really a good motivation. Updates regular and site well functional, nothing was really wrong about ISM 2007. I certainly hope we will have another one like this next year, maybe with some other cars, but with the same "three different kinds of tracks" idea.
Thank you for hosting this event, Mark L.

Really thanks!  :)     Well... I think probably there will be an ISM 2008...  ;)

Ayrton has won ISM 2007!

Ayrton has won ISM 2007! Last attack to the fantastic argentinian champion (29 points for him at finish) came from Bonzai Joe in the last minute (really in the last minute!) which conquered the first place on track B (fantastic 42"40!) but "only" a 5th place on track C: 2nd final place for the danish champion which reaches CTG at 26 points climbing with him on the podium! Great battle in the last day on track C (6 times) and improvements for SuperBrian (8th on track C and in general classification), Mark L. Rivers (5th on track C and 4th with Gutix in general classification) and Krys TOFF: great activity for the french champion in last days with 4th replays on track C (3rd at finish with 1'14"65!), 2 replays on track B (4th with 44"15 on track B behind the monstruos trio Bonzai Joe, Ayrton and CTG) and 2 replays on track A with a final 39"40. Great passion for the french driver! No other improvements and, misteriously, total silence by Chulk... You can download all replays at Download page. Analisys will be elaborated soon.
Well it was an engaging and dazzling challenge for me and I hope that all drivers liked the tracks and the event!  Thanks to all for the big show!  :)
And sure I hope that someone of them will want to express here his comments about the competition!

I'm posting this here because I felt it didn't deserve a new topic, but the cpu speed dosbox starts up in is pretty slow. What would be a good speed to put it at, 1500 or so?

You can try many other information to speed up DOSBox 0.65 reading these links:

http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?page=RunningResourceDemandingGames

http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?page=dosbox.conf%2Fcpu

A little guide to make more fluently the game is here (this is an extract of the readme.txt included in DOSBox 0.65):

===================================
8. To run resource-demanding games:
===================================

DOSBox emulates the CPU, the sound and graphic cards, and some other stuff, all at the same time. You can overclock DOSBox by using CTRL-F12, but you'll be limited by the power of your actual CPU. You can see how much free time your true CPU has by looking at the Task Manager in Windows 2000/XP and the System Monitor in Windows 95/98/ME. Once 100% of your real CPU time is used there is no further way to speed up DOSBox unless you reduce the load generated by the non-CPU parts of DOSBox.

So:

Close every program but DOSBox

Overclock DOSBox until 100% of your CPU is used (use the utilities above to check)

Since VGA emulation is the most demanding part of DOSBox in terms of actual CPU usage, we'll start there. Increase the number of frames skipped (in increments of one) by pressing CTRL-F8. Your CPU usage should decrease. Go back one step and repeat this until the game runs fast enough for you. Please note that this is a trade-off: you lose in fluidity of video what you gain in speed You can also try to disable the sound through the setup utility of the game to reduce load on your CPU further.

So press CTRL+11 or CTRL+12 and CTRL+7 or CTRL+8 to regulate the basic parameters about speed/fluently.

I hope this can help you.   :)
