Stunts Drivers Races / Re: SDR - NoRH Competition
January 27, 2007, 08:05:58 AM

Welcome Overdrijf! Happy to know you likes Stunts NORH race!  :)

I read you have problems to see your video captured with DOSBox 0.65, and I don't understand very well if you have resolved them or not. Anyway, have you installed ZMBV codec included in DOSBox 0.65 pack? After you have installed DOSBox 0.65, you can install the codec press the "Start Menu" of your Operating System, then pointing "Programs", then pointing "DOSBox-0.65", then pointing "Video" and then clicking on "Install movie codec".

I hope you can see your video. Yes, as Krys TOFF said, you could see anyway your race by your replay, but... when you'll see your race by your video... well, it's an incomparable emotion ...  ;)

Last day of race!
Well, after five weeks of race, ISM is going to finish: let's see what it will happen!
I don't assure an immediate update just after midnight (GMT+1)... ::)  More probably within 9 a.m. of tomorrow...  ;)
Sure I will have to check many replays, all received until here and others ones which I will receive today...  Hard work, but the big show realized by all drivers for this event makes the thing very satisfying...  :)

Really congratulations Krys, great victory!   :)
And congratulations to all other drivers too, all ahead me...  ::)
I couldn't race in two last days but probably I would not have improved very much my time...
Well, a big hammering for me in SWR, -0,8 Stand Points for Tata....
Thanks Mark. And how much bonus points at SWR for me ? ;D

+0,4 Stand Points for you at Tata, not very bad...  ;)

Acura PowerGutix!!!!

Beginning from this race, maybe when we'll talk about Acura PowerGear, we should talk about Acura PowerGutix... I really don't know  ??? ??? how he has succeeded (I check all replays only with RPLINFO) but he has sure kept PowerGear of his Acura from beginning until the end... realizing an unthinkable, absolutely unthinkable time: 1'03"30... Yes, 1'03"30!!!!   :o :o :o     Really incredible!!! An awesome result that one more time complicate the predictions of final result... It's true, Gutix has not succeeded to defend the longest and continuos leading time, and so 2 additional points at stake on track C are by now definitely in CTG's pocket which rises to 27 points (5 points less than current general leader, Ayrton). But the 10 points of track C appears now conquered almost definitely by Gutix. OK, never say never, but it seems impossible to reach a better time... And all additional points are definitely assigned (4 Ayrton and 2 CTG)... So with actual general classification we'll probably see a very big challenge to undermine Ayrton and Gutix (!) from actual positions, hoping to catch the maximum points available so to make less weighty additional points conquered... Sure CTG seems a bit advantaged in the run-up to Ayrton. Overtaking the argentinian on track A and B (not very easy, sure...), only 1 point would divide him to the vertex... Not enough to win, but enough to hope... Effectively, every driver can still win, but only if they will aim very, very high on every track and if the results of other drivers will help them... A thriling final waits all drivers and all spectators...  ;)   Who will win the title? Who will get the podium? Just 6 days and few hours to the end... Maybe many drivers will choose to send their last replay in last minutes... But will it be the most opportune choice? If a driver will send early a new record on a single track (like Gutix..) sure he will discover his cards but sure this could demotivate other drivers or lead them to spend many time on that track, overleaping the other ones... One more time, let's see what it will happen!  :)

Stunts Questions / Re: hi there
January 12, 2007, 07:17:30 PM

Welcome John!

Well, just 13 months ago, I was like you, an "old" Stunts player who sometimes clicked on Stunts subdirectory of own PC to remember how wonderful was this game... and now I'm joyfully engaged in great challenges with many others drivers (almost 45), managing an official Stunts Contest too, that is SDR (as JTK has wrote one of the sites accesible from Stunts Racing Portal).
Very good that new Stunts "lovers" join to Stunts racing world in the WEB!  :) This will continue to bring new sap at this wonderful way to enjoy!  :)
And to introduce you to all drivers actually engaged in official races, I suggest you to see one of current world rank (SWR) with all names of drivers with relative country: http://digilander.libero.it/stunts.SDR/ISM/SWR.htm
Actually this rank is admitted to a short contest, International Stunts Master 2007, reserved to top drivers. You can see actual standings of the contest which will finish the 27th of January.

OK John, good racing and... see you on the scoreboards!  ;)

3) Bonus Points (Checkpoints)

Leading Time Bonus has been eliminated, but it will be possible to get Bonus Points leading the race in correspondence of specific checkpoints during the month, as indicated below.

In every race, 14:00:00 (GMT+1) of every Sunday will constitute a checkpoint. Excluding first Sunday of April, July and September (days where races will start) and excluding obviously last Sunday of every month (day where all races finish) this means there will be 3 checkpoints for every race.

In correspondence of 1st checkpoint, it will be assigned 1 bonus point for current leader

In correspondence of 2nd checkpoint, it will be assigned 1 bonus point for current leader. If current leader will be the same of 1st checkpoint he will get another bonus point only if his time at 2nd checkpoint is at least 3% lower than his time at 1st checkpoint (*).

In correspondence of 3rd checkpoint, it will be assigned 1 bonus point for current leader. If current leader will be the same of 2nd checkpoint it will be assigned bonus point only if his time at 3rd checkpoint is at least 3% lower than his time at 2nd checkpoint.

* For example: A driver is resulted first at 1st checkpoint with 1'10"85 and so he has got one bonus point. If he results first again at 2nd checkpoint, he gets another bonus points only if he has sent after 1st checkpoint a new replay lower than 1'08"72 (3% of 1'10"85 = 0'02"12), that is 1'08"70 or lower.

To identify the specific points of the track where drivers will have to pass to make a valid race, it will be modified the 3rd rule of General Rules, substituting the term ?checkpoints? with the term ?intermediates?. This should avoid all possible misunderstandings about new Bonus Points system.
Mmmm...
Lemme think...

This is made to avoid a "killing time" at the beginning of the month that will get all the (previous) leading time bonus and that could make other pipsqueaks disappointed and less motivated (just like Gutix time for Z70 did), right ?

Racing blind until the "intermediate" will make a cruel dilemma for pipsqueaks : send their best to get bonus at 1st intermediate but maybe be unable to improve more and get bonus at 2nd intermediate... Or do their best, then calculate what could be 3% less time and then decrease speed to reach this 3% level (CTG already thought of that for sure). But with the risk to be overtaken.

Nice way to motivate to race during all the month anyway. We'll see how it will work soon on pipsqueaks' activity.

Well, new Bonus points system is born trying to match 1) a way to motivate to race during all the month (you have individuated all my reasoning while I elaborated the new formule ;) ) and 2) to succeed to manage SDR even in 2007.
This year I won't be able to dedicate the same time spent in 2006, and this new way to race will permit me to continue my adventure as a Stunts contest administrator managing a championship which anyway should result attractive...   :)

One last thing : keep 2006 scoreboards and points available at an "archive" section.

Archive Page has been realized yet some days ago...  ;)

Stunts Drivers Races / SDR - 2007 Season: New Features!
January 09, 2007, 09:45:44 PM

Hi all!

After a pause of 2 months, the 1st February 2007 SDR re-open the doors to all Stunts drivers!  :)
As 2006 season, SDR will admit two official and distinct championships:

RH contest, that is: racing with Replay Handling, sending a replay of the race

NORH contest, that is: racing without Replay Handling, sending a video of the race (availing DOSBOX 0.65 features).

Rules Page will contain soon all informations to know how you can participate at your favourite contest.
Anyway, some new features characterize new season, impacting appreciably on trend of every race respect last season:

1) Finish date

All races will finish last Sunday of the month at 14:00:00 (GMT+1)
About Start date, as last season all races will start the 1st day of every month at 00:00:01 (GMT+1), except for R8 which will start the 2nd day of September 2007.

2) Race Points

Scoring has been reviewed. These are Race Points which will be assigned from 1st place to 10th place: 15 - 12 - 10 - 8 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1.

4) Scoreboard update

Update of scoreboards will be weekly, just after every checkpoint (or the next day). This means every driver won't know the results of the opponents before every checkpoint and this vales for contest manager too. In fact, he will check all replays (with RPLINFO) and all videos just after every checkpoint.

OK, that?s all for the moment!  :)
Very soon SDR site will be temporarily unavailable. Beside to adapt pages at new rules, a light restyling will be applied to permit a faster and easier navigation.
And sure, ISM site will remain obviously available?  ;)

SWR and ISM / Re: International Stunts Master 2007

New CTG's results on track A and C have been received, and... there's a new record for him: Gutix overtook on track C!
About leading time system, I think CTG knows very well it having raced in almost all SDR races last year. Anyway, overtaking previous time (even if for only 0"05), he has stopped it and now leading time has been zeroed again. Two bonus points on track B are at the moment for Ayrton (311 hours). CTG leads on track B in this moments for 20 hours.

A change at the vertex: CTG new provisional leader!
He has placed the wheels of his favourite car just ahead Bonzai Joe, so he's leading now on track B and in general classification. And now the answers...  ;)

Don't forget that BJ got 18 seconds penalty on Z70 so his time is 1:40.xx. :D

Right...   ::)
But it's fixed yet...  ;)

So, this is the new Stand Points calculation for CTG:

HotRod =      not raced

Fangio = -0,3 He has arrived behind Gutix, Mark L. Rivers and Krys TOFF which were behind him in reference rank (-0,3); all drivers behind him in the race were behind him in reference rank.

C70 = -0,1     He has arrived behind Gutix which was behind him in reference rank (-0,1); all drivers behind him in the race were behind him in reference rank.

So this update attributes to CTG -0,4 Stand Points (-0,3 -0,1). Total points for him are so ((Average Race Points - 0,4) x Coefficient).

SWR and ISM / Re: Stunts World Ranking updates
January 04, 2007, 11:31:19 PM

First SWR update after the introduction of new criteria!  :)
To make more clear the new system, above all Stand Points, I describe now some details about new ranking after the update.  ;)

Start data is SWR after the conversion to the new system, that is SWR at 30 Dec 2006.
After this date, three races are finished (HotRod and Fangio in WSC and C70 in ZAK) with these results:

HOTROD

Gutix
Mark L. Rivers
Krys TOFF
AbuRaf70
Paleke
Hek

FANGIO

Ayrton
Krys TOFF
Gutix
Mark L. Rivers
CTG
AbuRaf70
Hek
Paleke
ADPunk
Nikko

C70

Gutix
Bonzai Joe
CTG
Renato Biker
Zak McKracken
AbuRaf70
SuperBrian
KrysTOFF
Hek
Leo Ramone
JTK

Positions reached by drivers engaged in races finished after 30 dec 2006 have been compared with their respective position in reference rank (SWR at 30 Dec 2006).

These are so Stand Points calculated, for example, for Krys TOFF:

HotRod  = 0,0 All drivers ahead him in the race were ahead him in reference rank; all drivers behind him in the race were behind him in reference rank.
Fangio = +0,3 He has arrived ahead CTG, Gutix and Mark L. Rivers which were ahead him in reference rank (+0,3); all drivers behind him in the race were beghind him in reference rank.
C70 = -0,3      He has arrived behind Zak McKracken, AbuRaf70 and SuperBrian which were behind him in reference rank (-0,3); all drivers behind him in the race were behind him in reference rank.

So this update attributes to Krys TOFF 0,0 Stand Points (0,0 +0,3 -0,3). Total points for him are so (Average Race Points x Coefficient).

Another example for CTG:

HotRod =      not raced
Fangio = -0,3 He has arrived behind Gutix, Mark L. Rivers and Krys TOFF which were behind him in reference rank (-0,3); all drivers behind him in the race were behind him in reference rank.
C70 = -0,2     He has arrived behind Gutix and Bonzai Joe which were behind him in reference rank (-0,2); all drivers behind him in the race were behind him in reference rank.

So this update attributes to CTG -0,5 Stand Points (-0,3 -0,2). Total points for him are so ((Average Race Points - 0,5) x Coefficient).

A last example for Gutix:

HotRod = 0,0  No drivers ahead him in the race; all drivers behind him in the race were behind him in reference rank.
Fangio =  0,0  He has arrived behind Krys TOFF which was behind him in reference rank (-0,1); he has arrived ahead CTG which was ahead him in reference rank (+0,1).
C70 = +0,1     No drivers ahead him in the race; he has arrived ahead CTG which was ahead him in reference rank (+0,1)

So this update attributes to Gutix +0,1 Stand Points (0,0  0,0 +0,1). Total points for him are so ((Average Race Points + 0,1) x Coefficient).

The new rank (SWR at 05 Jan 2007, that is actual rank) will be the reference rank at next update (05 Feb 2007) where, obviously, Races Database will change. CtrackB, Choices, Cabalen, C63 and Gyula will be excluded, while CtrackE and Tata (and other races which eventually will finish within 5 Feb 2007) will be included. Stand Points will be calculated for the race which will finish within 05 Feb 2007.

You can see actual rank at digilander.libero.it\stunts.SDR\ISM\SWR.htm   ;)
SWR page now include previous rank, that is reference rank respect Stand Points attributed.
