It seems my notebooks are calibrated to work only for 3.5 years. I guess there's something with the motherboard (or any integrated units). Tomorrow it will be taken to the service.

Probably few weeks without an own computer, expect no replays from me in May.

I have two IBM Thinkpads bought for own purposes. One is 8 the other 12 years old. Both running great with no problems whatsoever.

Breakdown of my former notebook was a stupid accident (drunk and stupid user + carbonated mineral water, you know the end...). The current problem is still undefined, maybe it's not a fatal one.

Motherboard error is confirmed, probably it can be fixed,

We bought Andi a new computer to replace the aging ThinkPad X40 inherited from me. Small and neat, just how we like it:

Thinkpad Edge E125
http://shopap.lenovo.com/hk/en/products/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-edge/e125/

In a recently phased out configuration, it was 2400CNY (300EUR) without an OS including the faster processor and the larger battery. I am quite happy with it.

The X40 will continue to serve probably as a gaming-specific machine (equals to Stunts in my case :)) I just need to replace the failing HDD (with a cheapo 16GB SSD perhaps, available for 40EUR in this corner of the world.)

Have I ever mentioned that Windows 7 sucks?

zaqrack

XP seems to be more stable. Windows 7 and Office 2007 crashed several times on this PC.

Yes, it is me. No, I'm not back at racing (for now...)

I mean both crashed independently (not with eachother) several times. Office 2007 is a little bit like a colorful lollipop (menu is not as logical as in Office 2003), but the Excel part contains several new options supplying the annoying deficiencies of the former versions.

The price is above 150 but (you need to add a hard disk):

...and if you want i can sell a pentium 3 or 4 for 100€, but you will have to come and get it.  :P

Thanks, but plans changed, maybe I'll buy a new one (my notebook is close to the death).
