I'm in, so 23:00 in Budapest would be preferable.

Can I please have the attached paint job for the Penske Chevrolet Indy? :)

I prefer an evening race, but I'm available all weekend, so I'll make time whenever it is.  Also, can I secure a red paint job if there's one available?

Hello @mrdries and welcome to the forum!  Yes, I have seen motorcycle trials and it's interesting to see this imitated in Stunts! :)

Thanks!  I've been wanting to use both in Race For Kicks for quite a while. :)

Quote from: Daniel3D on April 17, 2023, 11:23:26 AMI knew. Before I started this whole project, I already considered it.

Quote from: Daniel3D on April 17, 2023, 01:30:07 PMYou just showed Adam the apple tree.

So that means I'm Eve and you're the snake?  Seriously though, I don't know why you're playing the blame game.  When would you prefer for this information to be revealed?  Now, or after a new community member joins the competition and shoots to the top of the scoreboard, causing everyone to question if it's possible to cheat?  I mean, if both of us knew, isn't it likely that so do many others?

If what you say is true, that we trust each other and cheating probably won't go unnoticed, what's the issue?  Carry on with the competition!  I'm not concerned about the currently active community members, I'm concerned about newcomers, like what happened with the DOSReloaded.de fiasco.

Quote from: Argammon on April 17, 2023, 02:02:00 PMIf transparency is the point, why didn't you inform the community before the race started?

I only thought about it today when I was looking at different versions of DOSBox to test the replays that have recently been discussed in the Unstable replays at ZakStunts thread.

Quote from: Daniel3D on April 17, 2023, 11:23:26 AMThere will always be ways to cheat. The only thing I did was make it an effort to do so.

The reason I mentioned save states is because they are available in several versions of DOSBox and it takes little to no effort to use them.  It's a matter of transparency, similar to telling someone that you can use traditional replay handling in Stunts when they weren't already aware that was possible.

I hate to burst the bubble, but what's to stop people from using save states to perform replay handling?

Competition 2023 / Re: Unstable replays at ZakStunts
April 16, 2023, 03:02:15 PM
There has been a lot of discussion on this topic, which has been quite interesting to read.  Personally, I don't have an issue with the current rule.  I always ensure that my replays play back correctly when loaded from the options menu before posting them, regardless if I used power gear or not.  We've experienced unstable replays at Race For Kicks as well and have a similar rule for replay playability:

All replays must be playable continuously from start to finish when loaded in Stunts by selecting "Load replay" from the options menu. Playback at either standard or double speed is acceptable provided switching between the two speeds is not required for the replay to play back successfully.

Specifically, Duplode's replay for Joe's track in the permanent competition will play back successfully at double speed, but not at standard speed.  We also added an icon to easily identify replays like this.

I can also perform testing on legacy hardware, if necessary.  I have a 486 and a Pentium III system that run DOS natively, so let me know if running tests on either of these would be of any help. :)

Congratulations on the release of this version!  I've tried it out and at first glance, it appears to work as intended.  However, since this is the first I'm hearing about it and I wasn't included in the testing of this version for some reason, can you please explain why it's not likely that someone can cheat?  Of course I would be interested in a race or competition without replay handling, but a little more information about your anti-cheat measures would be appreciated.

Quote from: earok on March 24, 2023, 10:42:50 PMAll of those are present in the DOS version, except for the !PAL chunk.

@Daniel3D, I think you'll find this is correct.  The DOS version includes both !cg0 and !eg0 resources in the dashboard files, but not a !pal resource.

Quote from: earok on March 24, 2023, 10:42:50 PMI think I'm not really going to have time to dig any deeper into it.

What you have uncovered so far is still impressive.  I've always been interested in how developers of that era overcame palette limitations.

It's great that you're working on this again!  I remember when you first got it working, I said that at the very least, it would make an excellent 3D track viewer.  Looks like you've realised the next logical step.  I'm looking forward to seeing it in action!

"Hi, welcome, I see this is your first post here, your game is inferior."  ;)

That certainly isn't what I was insinuating.  I was actually referring to a few comments on his original thread on the English Amiga Board.  I'm sorry if that was the impression I gave. :(
