Quote from: Overdrijf on Yesterday at 05:35:16 PMI see you made some changes to the Audi DTM. Can I ask what you did?

Since your work is always pretty much perfect, not much at all! :P Seriously, I changed "quattro" to "Quattro" so it was consistent with the original Stunts car.  I know the official spelling is "quattro", but even Audi themselves have been known to use "Quattro" when referring to the car.

Competition 2023 / Re: Cars and rules for 2023
November 21, 2022, 07:18:29 AM
I'll keep things simple, so below are my proposed custom cars for 2023:

  • Chevrolet Corvette CERV III
  • De Tomaso Pantera GTS
  • Ferrari F40
  • Lancia LC1
  • Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R

Regarding Ryoma's cars, like Duplode, I kind of agree with Overdrijf.  So if that is the general consensus, I would substitute the Lancia LC1 with the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth.  Otherwise, I think that the current rules and structure of the competition work well, so I don't have any suggestions in that regard.

Quote from: alanrotoi on November 20, 2022, 02:04:54 PMI would choose between Ferrari Testarossa or Lamborghini Diablo only if a couple of tiny details are corrected.

Specifically, which details are you referring to?

Quote from: alanrotoi on November 15, 2022, 07:20:28 PMHey I love the design of the site.

Thanks! :) I actually just added an icon to identify which cars have graphical improvements since I'm guessing those are the ones that most people will be interested in.

Quote from: Daniel3D on November 10, 2022, 09:05:48 AMPlease share your fixes.

I'm on holiday at the moment, although using that term is a bit of a stretch, so I'll see what I can do next week.  However, with the changes that I've made, I haven't touched the performance to retain replay compatibility.

As we do in Race For Kicks, I recommend that you test each car thoroughly before offering it for use in a competition.

Quote from: Daniel3D on November 09, 2022, 10:33:53 AMThe F40 feels fast and solid, the Testarossa on the other hand is sluggish and slippery.

In my experience, I would expect these cars to feel that way on a race track in real life.  The F40 is a completely different car to the Testarossa.

That being said, I agree with your comments about Ryoma's work.  Namely, I've found quite a few rough edges with the dashboards.  Things like needles that are abnormally short or mysteriously disappear so that transparency masks don't need to be used, and glitches with the steering wheel animation.  I'm fixing these issues as I try each car, but it's a time-consuming process since I don't have the original source material.

The 3D models look great so far!  I think you've chosen well with the current line-up, but if I had to suggest another car, it would have to be the Holden Monaro. :) The first generation fits within your current time frame.

After participating in every race since the start, here is my honest feedback:

  • I think you should limit the cars to 2-3 per race.  The races where I only drove the cars that I enjoyed driving or thought were the fastest were the most fun, whereas the races where I drove the entire pack felt more like a chore.
  • The scoring system is complicated and combined with the fact that there is no easy way to see how you are doing makes the whole experience less engaging.  I know that a lot of this is due to the limitations of EasyTour, but it's something to think about.
  • The rules work well.  Obviously you will need to add details as issues arise, but I think you should continue with the current set of rules as a base.

Also, I've seen similar comments to this a few times:

Quote from: Daniel3D on October 31, 2022, 11:53:05 AMThis makes it possible for a good driver to get a lot of points, and that is not fun.

How is that not fun?  I would expect a good driver to get a lot of points in any competition.  Regardless of the changes you make, good drivers will always rise to the top of the scoreboard.

I haven't attempted the track yet, so I'm happy for the shortcut to be banned.  Ideally, you'd restart the race with a modified track, but I think it's a little too late for that at this stage.
