Stunts Chat / Re: Stunts WIKI

Hi alanrotoi,

The in-game car specs normally sticks the original (real) car or car's top speed no horizontal flat road.
I think that top speed at top gear and rev limit speed is just a indicator for specific running condition in Stunts.
If it's general consensus question "Real top speed" information could be changed in wiki car article to something like "Max speed on rev limit in top gear".

(meanwhile Caterham's wiki page and List of custom cars page is being updated)

@zapper. You know, I think, more than most of us about how the game processes the sound files. Can you lower the tone of SKI2 so that it is more of a rumble?

@Daniel3D, here you have the file (based on ADENG1.VCE you post before) with a lower tone grass skid sound.

Changes signaled below:

I'm seeing that you all have harvesting some useful information! :D But let me bring some information that I noted when changing "engine" sound on ADENG1.VCE bytes:

"Instrument data:

Lines (100 byte split)
1: STOP
2: STAR
3: ENGI ->
   Columns (decimal offset)
      300..339: not tested
343: change pattern (decimal values: 15-31-47)
344: change pattern (decimal values: 15-22-28-82)
346: change pitch (decimal values: 3-5-7)
      352:   fadein
      356: fadeout
358: change pattern (decimal values: 0-6)

4: BLOW
5: SKID
6: SCRA
7: BUMP
8: CRAS
"

These notes can be gathered into a wiki to describe VCE content files.

After stating that grass surface sound is missing on AdLib/Sound Blaster setup (Tandy also doesn't) by comparison with PC Speaker and MT-32 VCE files, I found a way to use a skid sound when driving non-tarmac (grass/mud/ice) surfaces.

I've replicated the same fix on Tandy resource file TDENG1.VCE, check attached TDENG1SK.VCE file below.

Hi,

After stating that grass surface sound is missing on AdLib/Sound Blaster setup (Tandy also doesn't) by comparison with PC Speaker and MT-32 VCE files, I found a way to use a skid sound when driving non-tarmac (grass/mud/ice) surfaces.

Initially I tried to add a resource at the end of the file ADENG1.VCE and also increasing byte nr. 5 from 8 to 9 (matching number of sound resources), but it seems dificult to get it recognized (all sounds get muted):

So my second attempt was to replace the "STOP" sound resource (as far as I know it's not heard in game), with the a new resource "SKI2" that is related for non-tarmac skid sound as you can check:

(original file content on top window)

I've tunned a little to be a lower tonned like It happens on Pc Speaker or MT-32.

The resulting file ADENG1SK.VCE is on attach, just replace the original ADENG1.VCE to try it.

@Zapper.
Are you ok with me attaching the corrupted version of your car for those who want to research this?

Hi @Daniel3D, unfortunately I replace locally the bug version with a corrected one...
I also tried to reproduce the bug, without success.

The file attached, when I post the initial mod version, had the following url:
http://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3636.0;attach=9777
...but it's now unavailable.

Do you have the zip file somewhere in browser's transfers folder?

Hello you all,

Something went wrong saving the RES file using the latest version of Stressed. The placement of resources in the file was changed so I remade the mod with the HEX editor.

Thanks for your prompt feedback.

I've replaced the bad released zip with a new one in the recent post link.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Great! What happens if I use this car version in a normal Stunts copy?
In normal Stunts copy the rev counter colour remains white.

After seeing Ryoma's post with KITT and Street Hawk showing a red rev counter, I've updated accordingly KITT's RES file parameter 0D4h from value "10h" to "27h" and using Stunts 1.1 mod 1.0

Here are the results:

Car release on attachment (fixed on 6th May).

One picture.

Nice pair of vehicles. Street hawk could be also KITT because I remember in one episode it was applied on a motorcycle :)

PS: Thank you for applying colour mod in kitt with a red rev counter. I'll update it soon.

Shelby GT500 on Test Drive 2 for Amiga is slightly better colored, steering wheel has a raised position and also has visible bonnet ;)

Sometimes I think they have 1 or two day for the muscle car update for test drive 2. The quality of the cars is very low compared to the others.

Hey do you like it? Should we make the complete list of cars like this? What info should we add to this list?

http://wiki.stunts.hu/index.php?title=Zapper

It's a good template.  8)
I suggest to add a publishing year and version (if applied) on the table.

I'm more agreed with Duplode's suggestion for "modders".

May I also suggest something like "post release developpers" (after official release), "moddification developers" or even "customization developers"?

I think that "developers" part is not just a word used in programmers scene and is self defining of what some people has done with this game and in or for this community.
